The 2020 Virtual Showcase wrapped up with highlights of how self-advocates and families have used the framework and tools in their own lives and for supporting families. Hear examples of how LifeCourse was integrated into practices for providing information, peer support, referral and navigation, as well as for outreach and engagement.
The November Showcase LIVE event celebrated National Family Caregiver’s month, featuring a panel discussing how they have used the Charting the LifeCourse framework and tools for supporting and engaging families. Panelists shared how they used LifeCourse for connecting with family organizations in underserved areas, accessing respite supports, educating the community about supporting families, planning for the future and more. Injecting CTLC into the Community

Families lost a way to access Respite services through their person-centered plan when Missouri stopped providing service coordination in 2017 for persons who did not have Medicaid. St. Charles County’s DD Resource Board worked with county service providers to develop a process so families could still access Respite Services. Instead of a person-centered plan, the process includes using the CtLC tools to provide Respite service providers the individual’s and family’s vision for how Respite can help them realize their good life.

Administrative Director Oklahoma Family Network, Family to Family Health Information Center
Heather Pike is the November awardee for Innovation in Self-Advocacy and Family Support Networks. Heather is the Administrative Director of the Oklahoma Family Network, Family to Family Health Information Center. She was an early adopter of the Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) framework, recognizing the potential for enhancing efforts in supporting families. Heather was instrumental in infusing the Charting the LifeCourse framework into their annual conference, Joining Forces: Supporting Family and Professional Partnerships. She has also worked with systems and providers in Oklahoma to introduce and educate them on using CtLC in supporting families. We are excited to recognize Heather’s dedication and leadership in supporting families and implementation of the Charting the LifeCourse framework.
